Vallauris is a small village near Nice and Monaco on the French Riviera. It is known since the end of the 19th century for fine arts and majolica.  Vallauris majolica is representative of French Art Nouveau style in the beginning of the 20th century.  Picasso lived in Vallauris a few years after WW2.  Beautiful colorful majolica including oyster plates was hand made by famous French artists such as Massier and Fassy.
