This was short lived, as well. In the early 1900s, Henriot bought Porquier-Beau. Then in 1964, HB and Henriot merged to form HB-Henriot. HB-Henriot was originally run by Pierre Henriot, relative of Jules Henriot, which now operates under the ownership of American investors. Quimper produced prior to the mid-1800s was intended for everyday use, while later pieces from 1870 to 1930 were more artistic in nature and designed for display. Quimper typically has a white background decorated with scenes of country life in Breton: a farmhouse, a church, a rooster, a gorse , or a Breton man ("petit Breton") or woman in traditional dress. Early pieces also sometimes feature the crest of Brittany and stylized flowers.
